Should You Try to Find Unlisted Phone Numbers?
The telephone play an important role in communication. It might have been become impossible to locate a person if there is no telephone. It should also be noted that sometimes it becomes difficult to find a person's number itself. This is because quite a few people these days choose unlisted phone numbers which are not printed in the telephone book. Many people think that an unlisted number will protect them against pesky telemarketer calls. It may not stop all of them, but it can cut down on the amount. Some choose to be unlisted to avoid amorous suitors or exes from tracking them down. Others simply feel uncomfortable printing their number for all to see. Which is why many people try to find unlisted phone numbers. But should you?
There are quite a few ethical questions which arise when seeking unlisted numbers. After all, if the person you are looking to call wanted you to know their number, you'd probably know it. Of course, if you lost their number that they gave to you, it is totally acceptable to look it up. There are other motivations that aren't so black and white, however. For example, maybe you're trying to find an old school friend. It's possible that this person would be thrilled to hear from you. It's also possible that they have no desire to talk to anyone from 'the old days' and would prefer you not call them. The same scenario goes for old flames and crushes.
Let's say you're thinking a lot about your old girlfriend and want to see how she is doing, but the number is unlisted. Sure, you could pay a service to locate the number for you, and it's likely they can. But what are you going to do once you have it? Many people get too nervous and never even call the unlisted number they've hunted down. And what if this old girlfriend is unhappy to hear from you? She could be married. She could feel that the act of hunting down her number is stalking. Of course, it all depends on your individual situation. Everyone is different, of course. It's just a wise idea to consider all the outcomes before acting on the urge to track down and call an unlisted number.
You can certainly find unlisted phone numbers using the services offered on the Internet. But whether or not you should is a personal matter to be examined at length before a decision is made.
